Miguel Cabrera Triple Crown MVP Mini Plaque - Game Used Jersey

Hey all!

I went to my first Detroit Tigers game on Friday, and picked up a nice item as a souvenir! First, the Tigers organization is definitely first-class, and going through Comerica Park is amazing. There were so many promotions, giveaways, etc. and I even got a "First Game" Certificate for free. Let's just say I CAN'T wait to go for another game! :)

But on to the item. I was online searching up some items the Tigers had for sale, which they likely had for sale in the D Shop. So a couple of items caught my eye, but a lot too pricey for me. So I decided to just bring $40 and pick myself up a surprise!

So at about the 5th inning, I head down to the main concourse and go in the D Shop. I was especially interested in the authentics they had for sale. Then, a rack of items really got me interested - it was some mini game used plaques for $20-$30! They had bat relic plaques of Alex Avila, Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder, and jersey relics as well. So, after a couple minutes of deciding, I picked out this beauty for $30.

The reason I chose this item, over the bat plaque and others, was because the plaque noted a couple major highlights from Miggy's AMAZING 2012 season. It also has a VERY nice action photo of I think one of his many home runs. I also got a pamphlet from the worker in the area which said I could go on MLB.COM to see the COA. Now I have to find a place to hang this awesome item!

DOUBLE MAIL DAY - Trades with Wax Stain Rookie and Cardboard Conundrum

Hey everyone,

I was greeted with an exciting mail day today. I had recieved 2 packages in the mail - one from Dave from Wax Stain Rookie, and another from Matt from Cardboard Conundrum. Both contained great cards... so let's get to the goods!

TRADE WITH WAX STAIN ROOKIE:

The deal was originally 2 for 2 (Hit for hit and NHCD for NHCD) But Dave threw in 2 extras! Thanks Dave!

\

That's a SWEET card of one of my PC players, Ryan Murray. If it were not for his injury and the lock out, he'd be in the NHL right now, ranked as the most NHL-ready player in the 2012 draft. I expressed interest in it ever since Dave pulled it, I'm really glad we finally could work something out!

I also was to recieve a NHCD card of Casey Cizikas to complete my second set. Not only did I get that, but I got a Boone Jenner H&P base and a Evgeni Malkin Victory Stars of the Game Insert.
Thanks for the GREAT trade Dave!

TRADE WITH CARDBOARD CONUNDRUM:
My second career trade with Matt was another HUGE one. This one even better than the first, though.

Shoot... scans not uploading. Sorry everyone... I guess I'll have to just name the cards.

2010-11 Donruss Magicians Jersey Chris Paul /299
2012 Crown Royale Sunday Soldiers Jersey Sam Bradford /99
2011 Plates and Patches Jersey Eli Manning /199
2010 Threads Rookie Collection Prime Jersey Mike Williams /50 (Ooops... though he was Mike Wallace)
2012 Topps Golden Moments Jersey Joey Votto
2012 Topps Tier One Auto Adam Lind /399
2012 Gypsy Queen Bat Madison Bumgarner (Pitcher's bat? BUNT!)
2012 Gypsy Queen Auto Jordan Zimmerman
2011 Gypsy Queen Jersey Prince Fielder
2009 UD Signature Stars Top Prospects Auto David Price
2011-12 Luxury Suite Jersey/Stick Jason Spezza
2012-13 Artifacts AutoFacts Evgeni Nabokov
2011-12 Between The Pipes Future Stars Auto Matheiu Corbeil
2011-12 Limited Brothers In Arms Jersey Nikolai Khabibulin/Devan Dubnyk

WOW! Now THATS an amazing lot of cards! Huge additions to my PC! Now I can see why it costed Matt so much to ship. Thanks Matt!

As Victor Martinez said on the Detroit Tiger's commercial, "I follow Prince, Miggy, Austin, Torii in the lineup..." "BOOM!"

That's right, An awesome finish to an awesome trade. My first Geno auto. Thanks so much Matt and Dave!

NHCD Set Completed! Thanks Michael!

Just got home from a long day at in the States today. Came home to see a boatload of mail in my mailbox, 2 were for me. One was a TTM (And a REALLY nice one I'll be posting about soon) and a puffy envelope from Michael from Collecting for Kicks. I knew exactly what it was. I had contacted him after NHCD last week to see if we could work out some sort of trade to help me complete my set. Well, he told me he didn't need any because he already had a set, so sent me them! It was #4 Casey Czikas and #5 Mark Stone.

So THANKS Michael! Look for an envelope to arrive at your house next week!

Email Autograph - Kayla Harrison

Okay, I'll eventually get around to do all of the posts I want to post. And I would have, except today I got an envelope in the mail, and when I felt a card inside and saw the return label, I knew exactly where it was from. Take a look:

Sorry for the sideways picture! Anyways, it was an email success. A really nice one! I emailed her (or her fan club?) using the email address from Sports Card Forum. Than I got a reply from her fan club stating they have sent me a card of her's signed. So a few weeks later, I recieved a BRAND NEW card (It lists on the back she won a gold at the 2012 olympics) of this Judoist! Pretty awesome card, she has an amazing autograph and also drew olympic rings and wrote champ under it! Thanks Ms. Harrison for this awesome success!

I WON A CONTEST! THANKS SPORTS CARD INFO!

Just yesterday, I received a medium sized bubble envelope. Now, when I saw it (the top of my mailbox was opened I thought is was something else (which should arrive soon and I should be posting about it ;) ) but then I saw it was from Sports Card Info on the return address! So I knew exactly what it was... this:  A really nice on-card auto of T.J. Graham!

Photobucket
2012 Prestige Draft City Destinations Autograph #30 T.J. Graham
(I used Ross's picture, credit goes to him)

Hockey fans, if you don't know him that's O.K. He's a wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills. It's a really nice card, and I love the idea of the card. Plus it's from Prestige 2012, a really nice set! And don't forget, the autograph is ON-CARD!! The only thing I wish I could change about this card is to add on a serial number (I'm pretty sure less than 999 were made of each of these cards) and that Graham had signed it a little under so his autograph would be on top of his name, and not block his hand, and a teeny bit right, so it would be centered, because I really do not like all the white space at the bottom and he sign on his arm. But nonetheless, an awesome card!

Thank you Ross and Sports Card Info for this wonderful card and contest! You can be sure to see me in the upcoming contests!

You should also be seeing a flurry of posts coming up! A few days ago I received a really nice fan pack (with signed stuff in it :D ) and just today I received a star player TTM that I had completely forgot about and then the package I hinted at the top of this post when I get it!

Oh yeah, I'm not really that big of a Bills fan, if anyone wants to trade for it, just shoot me an email or comment! Thanks!

Thanks Sal! ... had no time to post!

So sorry for the lack of posts everyone! I have been so busy and went on a bunch of mini vacations! But now I finally catch a break, and I need to post something I have been meaning to a while ago. It was when Sal held a contest. He promised a prize for everyone, not just the winner( who I unfortunately wasn't) He tried to make the prize interesting for everyone, and asked for their favourite team. So I said the Penguins, and a few days after I received it. It was this really cool Mario Lemieux 1990's game card, like Pokemon, sort of. The card was really cool, and interesting. It came in a top loader which had a stoker on it that said: Book Price - $6.00 Our Price - $2.00 RC. Well, this most definitely wasn't his RC, ;) , but was really cool. Thank you Sal! I will try and get a picture soon, as I am posting this on my IPhone.

GREAT DEALS: STOLE A LOT OF AUTOGRAPHED CARDS

Hi everyone!

Again, I recently made a purchase on Blowout Cards forum. Anyone who hasn't, I strongly urge you to. Great Deals happen there. And I think I was able to snag one! :) No, I didn't snag a great deal. Istead, I snaged a steal!

So thank you SBND7 (Real Name: Mike)
For $10, shipped, in a bubble mailer, I got:

2007-08 Trilogy Scripts Ryan Kesler AUTO $2
2007-08 Be A Player Signatures Trevor Linden AUTO $2
2007-08 Be A Player Signatures Marc Savard AUTO $3
2005-06 Ultimate Collection Ultimate Signatures Ryan Suter AUTO $3

Wow... this for $2. I think this was the best deal out of the lot, and I have always wanted a Kesler auto, as I have mailed to him TTM (With no reply :( ) And Trilogy... from what I heard it's quite a high end product. I might want to hand onto this for a little...

Woo-Hoo! I know there are quite a few 'nucks and Linden fans on this blogging world! Gee, I don't mind a signed card of him for $2!! Every time...

I mainly picked this up for reasons that he doesn't sign TTM. But other than that, I don't really have an attachment to this card, and it is actually a really messy autograph.

This card is nice... real nice. Again, it comes from another higher ended product. And a rookie/auto card of Suter... not too shabby! The only thing I dislike... the space between Suter's first name and last name of his autograph. It makes me feel uncomfortable. But I LOVE the "S" in Suter! (Or should I say... St?)

So there you have it! Probably one of my better deals in my card life!
All are avalaible, including the Kesler. Any interest, you can leave a comment or email me at beware_the_hockey_card_closet@hotmail.ca and we can definitely work something out!

CONTEST UPDATE: Not many people have signed up... sign up now! You have a good chance to win something!
Thanks for looking!

GREAT DEALS: A BIG LOT FROM BLOWOUT CARDS

Hey guys!

I'm back again! Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend, as I sure did! Went to the annual carnival and got some nice prizes. But I'm posting now about a mail package I received on Friday. It was a recent deal from Blowout Cards Forum, and was a package from dunkking34 (Blowout Cards Forum username). The guy, Aaron, gave me some amazing deals, and $26 later, I got it. Let me tell you, when I saw it I knew I was in for a great mailday. His packaging was way over the top- he even used a little box and put in packing peanuts! :) So let's get to the goodies!

The original price for these was $32 (Already cheap) but I managed to talk him down to $26 shipped.

Cards 1, 2 and 3:

2011-12 Certified Fabric of the Game
#87 015/399 Patrik Elias - $1.50
#96 393/399 Brandon Dubinsky - $1.50
#102 336/399 Bobby Butler - $1.50
Sorry for the sideway image! But I have to say, I am really happy with these! First off, none of them are white swatches, and second, I only paid $1.50 for each of them!

Total spent so far: $4.50

Card 4:

2010-11 Certified Freshman Signatures #199 385/899 Eric Tangradi - $2.25
Sweet RC/Auto for my Penguins collection. Why not?

Total spent so far: $6.75

Cards 5, 6, 7:

2009-10 Be A Player
Signatures Dual Steve Mason/Derick Brassard $5.25
Signatures Peter Regin - $1.50
Signatures Devin Setoguchi - $1.50

Sorry again for the sideway image, I was trying to fit all 3 cards in the picture best I could. The Mason/Brassard dual was the most expensive of the lot, and I may have paid a little too much for it. But in Beckett, that card is worth $10-$25. I've also always wanted a Mason auto. I am a fairly big fan, and sent to him TTM before. (With no response) The Regin and Setoguchi will fit well with the rest of my BAP Autos.

Total spent so far: $15.00

Card 8:

2009-10 SP Game Used Dual Fabrics 023/100 M-A Fleury and Jordan Staal - $3.75
The card looks amazing in person... especially that it has two kinds of swatches. The Black Fleury is a "pillowy" type and the Stall feels like a silky tight kind. Really big piece in my growing Pens collection.

Total spent so far: $18.75

Card 9:

2009-10 UD Ice Glacial Graphs Niklas Kronwall - $3

Sorry the scan is blurry... but this is my favourite card of the lot. I can rave on and on about the card. No, not the team or player (Although he IS my favourite Red Wing) but about the card. First of all, the card's picture is perfect, as it shows him at the Winter Classic game and the card has snow and ice scratches all over and a nice blue colour. The second reason, the autograph is on-card, and looks really sharp. The third reason, the card is see-through, which is AWESOME! There are more, but I'll list only those. The only con I have against this card - when you hold it to light, you can see the certificate of authenticy on the player.

Total spent so far: $21.75

Card 10:

2009-10 SPx Winning Combos Brad Richards/Mike Modano - $2.25

Just another card my jersey collection - I just picked it up for the heck of it. One complaint - the swatches are really small in the letter windows.

Total spent: $24 + $2 shipping (Cost him more than I paid for shipping)

Not a bad lot for the price!  Looking forward to dealing with him again, and if anyone's interested, all cards are for trade or sale!

Thanks for looking! Oh yeah, when I reach 1000 views, I'll be hosting a contest! So keep looking, and thanks again!
